Escape the Prison. Embrace Your Spiritual Selves.

It’s confusing to be a human. We live in a world of glorious splendor. So many things to see and experience. But its many fabulous offerings can become a trap, a prison.

The allure and excitement available in our world can quickly capture our attention and imagination. There is fun to be had, inspiration to draw, and the prospect of fulfillment to explore.

But, unless awareness is properly employed, these very things can also be the cause of our confusion. “How can this be,” you may wonder. Let’s take a closer look.

The Point

The most important thing is to gain an understanding of the true nature of our humanness and to balance our relationship with this outer world. This is where Spirituality enters the conversation.

What is Spirituality?

Defining Spirituality is easy. Spirituality is a daily practice leading to inner awareness of the Spiritual nature of oneself, of man, and of all things. However, grasping the significance of this definition can be a little more difficult.

Simply stated, Spirituality is who we are, our true essence and nature. It is not about crystals, psychics, or even meditation. And one does not need religion to be Spiritual. In fact, religion often nullifies actual Spirituality by asking us to look outside of ourselves. The point of Spirituality is to look inside.

You see, you already are Spiritual. You are not a physical body that has a Spirit. You are a Spirit — a Spiritual being — who has elected to express and experience the physical world in a body.

Just as you get into a car to go from point A to point B, the body is your ‘vehicle’ to enable the real you — the Spirit that is the real you — to move about and experience the physical world in a more tangible way. You chose to enter and use a body, just like you would a car.

Key Takeaway...

You see, you already are Spiritual. You are not a physical body that has a Spirit. You are a Spirit — a Spiritual being — who has elected to express and experience the physical world in a body.

The point of physical existence is to participate, to experience, with the goals of enhanced growth, expanding knowledge, feeling wisdom and, of course, enjoyment. This then contributes to the consciousness of all.

The best way to accomplish the above is by developing awareness of the 5 inner selves. This is Spirituality and is a critical part of the life experience, but is also the most overlooked.

Developing awareness and cultivating a relationship with these inner selves is the practice of Spirituality.

What’s the Prison?

The physical world is loaded with traps. These are the things that excite us, draw us in and, ultimately cause us to look for happiness outside of ourselves. That’s the prison.

This prison can alternatively be described as the hamster wheel. No matter how long or fast you run on such a wheel, you’ll never get anywhere. It is the same with the traps found in the physical world. These can imprison us if we let them.

When we become enamored with all the fun and joy found in the world, these distract us. This can become a problem. They become even more problematic, though, when the fun and joy evolve over time to become something different: disappointment, failure, or anger.

Key Takeaway...

This is a big confusion suffered by we humans. We confuse joy and fun with actual love, happiness, and self-acceptance. This is the trap, the hamster wheel, the prison.

What do most do then? Rather than look inside to find the cause of these feelings, which often can be based in self-judgment, we look outside of ourselves for something else that will manufacture the artificial feelings of joy found in what we perceive as ‘fun.’

This is a big confusion suffered by we humans. We confuse joy and fun with actual love, happiness, and self-acceptance.

This is the trap, the hamster wheel, the prison.

Learning to overlook the traps set by the physical world and the body and its needs, and developing awareness of the Spirit within, and its 5 individual components, is the get out of jail free card, the way off the wheel. This is Spirituality and this is how and where real, lasting happiness can be found.

The Spiritual Selves?

As I wrote above, your Spirit has several components, 5, in fact. I refer to them as the 5 Selves. But one is not really a ‘self’ and 2 others combine to create another.

Yes, I know. It can sound very complicated but really, it’s not. And it accurately describes your Spiritual nature. And mine. And everyone else’s. We’re all the same inside.

This truly is a schematic of our inner world. 5 inner selves.

We each have inside these 5 things:

  • God Self
  • Individualized Self
  • Communicator
  • True Self
  • Ego self (lower case ‘s’ in self is intentional!)

The True Self and the Ego self combine to create the Individualized Self.

Key Takeaway...

This truly is a schematic of our inner world. 5 inner selves.

The Communicator is the outlier, the aspect of our inner world that really isn’t a ‘Self’. It’s more of a tool to facilitate communication — hence its name.

Being Spiritual is the act of building and maintaining awareness of these 5 components and using them to make better life decisions, and to help you create all your desires.

Want to create a better life for yourself? Understanding this and using this information will help.

Want to find real love? Turning your focus inward and looking there will reveal these components and will show you real love. This is what it means to love yourself.

Want to talk to God? This is how you do it: become aware of the inner selves and especially the God Self, which will reveal itself when you dig deep enough.

The point, though, is not to ‘add’ anything. The key is to uncover what’s already there, inside of you now. The point is to clear away all the ‘debris’, the hidden and repressed issues, hurts, disappointments, and other feelings, that cloud your vision and, likely, control your life far more than you realize.

Conclusion

The big takeaway from this short article is just this: Right now, as you read this, you may be a prisoner of your thoughts and the world, stuck on the endless search for fun and joy, which are often confused with real happiness. And, if you haven’t yet developed awareness of the inner selves — most have not — then you probably have not yet realized that you’re stuck on this wheel and that there is an easier way. Spirituality and awareness of your Spiritual selves is your escape hatch, the key that unlocks the prison doors.
